Mayhem
Where the chaos of new management meets clarity, humor, and hope.
About This Blog
Let's be honest—your first management role is equal parts thrilling and terrifying. One day you're chatting by the coffee machine with your teammates, and the next day you're the one responsible for their performance reviews. Talk about mayhem, right?
Management Mayhem is your survival guide through the wild, wonderful, and occasionally nightmarish world of new leadership. This isn't your typical corporate blog filled with buzzwords and unrealistic advice. Instead, you'll find real talk about the messy middle of management—the awkward conversations, the "fake it 'til you make it" moments, and yes, even the victories that make it all worthwhile.
What You'll Find Here
Real Stories, Real Solutions: Every post tackles the challenges you're actually facing, not the ones leadership books pretend you're having.
Humor That Heals: Because sometimes you need to laugh to keep from crying (we've all been there).
Practical Wisdom: Actionable advice that works in the real world, not just in theory.
Encouragement Without the Fluff: Honest support that acknowledges how hard this job can be while reminding you that you've absolutely got this.
About Your Guide Through the Mayhem
Hi, I'm Ebony Robinson, creator of the Peer2Manager Success System. My journey into management started like many others—with a promotion, a healthy dose of confidence, and absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into.
I learned the hard way that managing former peers is like trying to change clothes while riding a bicycle in traffic. It's possible, but it requires skill, balance, and probably a few minor crashes along the way. Through trial, error, and more coffee than any human should consume, I figured out how to navigate the transition from peer to leader.
The greatest compliment I ever received as a manager came years later when a former employee, now in his own leadership role, told me: "I try to manage the way you did." That moment reminded me why this work matters so much.
My Mission for You
I'm not here to turn you into a carbon copy of me or anyone else. The management world has enough cookie-cutter leaders, thank you very much. Instead, I want to help you develop your authentic leadership style—one that honors who you are while growing into who you're becoming.
Whether you're three days or three months into your management journey, this blog is your space to feel seen, supported, and maybe even entertained while you figure out this whole leadership thing.
Ready to turn your management mayhem into manageable success? Let's dive in together.
New posts drop every week. Because even in mayhem, consistency matters.

Your Boss Wants Numbers, Your Team Wants Pizza: A Manager's Guide to Translation
Well, look at you! You've landed in the most unique position in corporate America – you're simultaneously too high up to complain about the coffee quality and too low on the org chart to do anything about the budget for better coffee. You're now the human translator between the C-suite's spreadsheet obsession and your team's very reasonable desire to be treated like actual humans who occasionally need lunch breaks.

Walking the Tightrope: How to Be the Boss Without Being a Monster
So you've been promoted from "one of the gang" to "the person who assigns quotas," and suddenly you're wondering how to command respect without becoming the office villain. Welcome to the delicate dance of authority, where you need to be taken seriously without taking yourself too seriously, and where the line between "strong leader" and "corporate tyrant" is thinner than your patience during forecast week.

Forecasting: The Ancient Art of Making Educated Guesses Look Scientific
Congratulations! You've been promoted to sales manager, which means you now have the mystical ability to predict the future. At least, that's what your VP of Sales believes when they ask for your "accurate forecast" every Monday morning at 8 AM sharp. Time to dust off that crystal ball and learn how to make wild speculation sound like data science.

The Art of the One-on-One: It's Not Therapy, But Sometimes It Feels Like It
Welcome to the wonderful world of one-on-ones, where you'll discover that "How are the numbers looking?" somehow transforms into "My cat doesn't respect me, and I think it's affecting my cold calls." Congratulations, you're now part therapist, part coach, and part human tissue box – none of which were mentioned in your job description.
